Avalanche Flotation Device
If you do not have your own avalanche backpack and wish to rent one, you must notify us no later than 3 weeks before departure. CMH offers the Mammut Powder 10 Removable Airbag 3.0 AFD. If you have your own avalanche backpack and are not allowed to check in your cylinder (please check with your airline), it is possible to rent this. CMH rents out Mammut 2.0 cylinders (CMH does not refill AFD cylinders).
Avalanche backpack or cylinder rental:
- Pack rental is 40 CAD /day + taxes.
- CMH charge a 3-day non-refundable deposit of 120 CAD + taxes at the lodge regardless of whether the guest uses the pack or not.
- CMH also rents avalanche airbag cylinders compatible with Mammut (Mammut 2.0).

- The rental rate for Cylinders is a flat rate of 35 CAD + taxes.
- If Cylinders are not returned to CMH a 150 CAD + tax fee will be charged to the guest on top of the 35 CAD + tax flat rate.

- All charges for AFD rentals can be left owing to pay at the lodge, they do not have to pay before their trip.
- For all Private Programs, a complimentary AFD is provided (please let us know if they definitely want to use them on their trip).
- Guests will be required to sign a rental agreement at the lodge, after the orientation with the shop technician, prior to skiing.

- AFD rentals are subject to availability and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Weight (including shovel, probe & canister): 6lb / 2.8 kg
- Height: 22”/ 56cm | Width 12” / 30cm | Depth: 6” / 15cm
